Oscars

The Oscars are coming up this week so I have decided to put up my predictions because I'm board and I have actually seen most of the movies nominated this year so I'll give my opinion on each nominee than who I think should win.

AMERICAN SNIPER- I will say I thought this was a good movie, but I never want to see it again. It was pretty intense with it's scenes of war which included children being tortured. I'm not saying don't see for sure go see it, I'm just saying one time is enough.

BIRDMAN- I must say that this movie is truly original. This movie is bat crap crazy and left me saying what did I just watch. When you add in the ending that is very much open to interpretation it is easy to see this movie isn't for everyone. I personally liked it and recommend it but be warned if you see this movie you might feel different than me.

BOYHOOD- I will say this was a very interesting idea to take the same actors and film them through 12 years. For what it is it works. Richard Linklater is a good director and he proved it once again. Go see this movie. With that being said there wasn't really a plot. Basically this movie is equivalent to if you were to find a six year old kid and just watch his life until he entered  college and then said okay now I'm not going watch this person anymore. So spoiler alert I don't think this one deserves best picture.

GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL- This movie is funny, quirky, and all around enjoyable just like most Wes Anderson movies. Although I don't think it's his best I really love this movie and recommend it.

THE IMITATION GAME- This film was ok. It had good acting but the paced seemed slow. If the idea was to make the main character seem very unlikable to the point that you really don't care what happens to him than mission succeeded. It wasn't like that was the only team working on breaking codes, Also no matter what the film would have you think I doubt think them breaking the code single handedly one the war. I honestly would have been more interested in a movie involving the horrible treatment of homosexuals in England at that time and what brought about change of those laws. The movie just seemed to barley touch that part of the main characters life at the end. See the movie or don't it won't change your life

SELMA- I will start off by saying this is a good film with good acting and you should see it. The thing is this could have been great not just good. I have four faults in this movie that might make someone mad since this seems to be  the untouchable movie everyone should love, but this is my opinion. First I would like to say I wanted to see more of  the story of Dr. King and not just one event. Second I felt like the movie purposely wasn't accurate on all history. One big example is it basically said that Hoover made it up and that wasn't King on the recording. That's ridicules Hoover was a prick who taped all kinds of people. He had enough tape on King he didn't have to make something up. King was a great man but just like all people he wasn't perfect. If you don't want to look at the bad parts of his life that's fine, the man did plenty of good to focus on. Just don't make up history. Third I felt like they introduced so many people you couldn't remember who was who. And last I felt like the movie tried way to hard to play on your emotions one example was the first scenes with showing the church burning. The thing is what Dr. King did for this country is powerful enough there no need to make you feel a certain way.

THEORY OF EVERYTHING- This is a good film with good acting if your interested in Stephen Hawking's life than watch it

WHIPLASH- This is a great movie good acting, and a good story I don't think it will win best picture but you should see it you won't be disappointed

AND THE WINNER IS................... BIRDMAN.
